How to use your HAPPY PASS
The electronic toll collection device included with your car rental allows you to travel without waiting in line at toll booths.
Instructions for use
Follow these 5 simple steps to navigate the Italian highway network correctly.
Proper placement
Place the device at the top center of the windshield, right next to the rearview mirror. Secure it firmly using the suction cup provided to ensure optimal signal reception.
Choose the dedicated lane
As you approach the toll booth, whether entering or exiting, use only the lanes marked with the yellow Telepass sign. Never use the blue lanes (reserved for cards) or the white lanes (reserved for cash).
Slow down and proceed
Approach the toll booth, gradually slowing down to a maximum speed of 30 km/h. The device will emit an audible signal (BEEP) and the barrier will rise automatically. Continue through the toll booth without coming to a complete stop.
No extra charges

What to do in case of problems
If the barrier does not rise, do not get out of the vehicle and do not reverse. Press the HELP button located on the left-hand pillar, near the driver. A highway operator will respond via intercom to assist you and open the barrier remotely.
What to do at the end of your rental?
When you return from your trip, remember to remove the HAPPY PASS from the windshield and hand it directly to the operator at the rental office. If you’re returning the vehicle outside of business hours, simply leave the device inside the vehicle and do not place it in the keybox, which is intended only for keys.
Important rules and restrictions
To avoid fines or malfunctions, please follow these usage guidelines.
Use ONLY the lanes marked with the yellow Telepass sign. It is strictly prohibited to enter the blue lanes (for credit cards) or white lanes (for cash) with the device on board.
The HAPPY PASS service is valid only on the Italian highway network. It cannot be used abroad, in affiliated parking lots, or to pay for Milan’s Area C.
